Standard aluminium conducts heat straight through the frame. A thermal-break profile splits the frame with a polyamide strip so the outside and inside never touch. Combined with double or Low-E glazing, it is the most effective way to make a sun-facing room cooler and quieter.

Windows are the weakest part of the building envelope, so improving them reduces how hard the AC works in every room that faces the sun. The saving depends on the size of the glass, the orientation and your current windows. Replacing single-glazed standard frames in west-facing rooms gives the biggest difference in comfort and in your DEWA, SEWA, ADDC or FEWA bill.
Double glazing on a standard frame still helps, especially with noise. But the frame can make up a large part of a window's area, so a hot frame limits the benefit. If you are paying for double glazing on sun-facing rooms, we recommend matching it with a thermal-break frame.
