Shower glass thickness: 8mm, 10mm or 12mm?
The short answer
Use 10mm tempered glass for most frameless shower doors and screens. Choose 8mm for semi-frameless or sliding screens supported by a rail, and 12mm for very tall or wide fixed panels and walk-in screens without a support bar.
Why thickness matters
A frameless shower door hangs only on its hinges. Thicker glass is stiffer, so it flexes less when opened and closed, feels more solid, and keeps the hinges aligned for longer. Thicker glass is also heavier, which the hinges and the wall must be able to carry.

Tempered is not optional
All shower glass must be tempered safety glass. If it breaks, it shatters into small blunt pieces instead of sharp shards. Tempered glass cannot be cut after toughening, which is why we measure precisely and order each panel to size.
