For resistance to water, humidity and termites, yes. MDF and chipboard swell when water gets in, and solid wood can crack in dry AC air. Aluminium cabinets keep their shape. Wood still gives the warmest look, which is why many clients choose aluminium carcasses with wood-effect or lacquered doors.
